I can't say enough to express my appreciation to the DM team for a job well done. I can't thank enough our funders the Gates Foundation and the World Bank for recognizing that though the world needs complex organizations to solve her problems, the smaller projects that are closer to the people can also make a huge difference. It was a wonderful process to go through although tiresome, it was worth doing and i say thank you for the opportunity. I also wanted to thank the Jurors for sorting through all the wonderful ideas. i can imagine how difficult it might have been for them to select the winners out of a large volume of all potential winners. I will live with this memory for life and i believe our world is still in our control.
Coming from Sudan with an idea and getting the approval from the World Bank is a tremendous happiness for us. Our country has known only war and now there is peace particularly in Southern Sudan, many challenges have began to emerge and among them is lack of human resource in all fields which is the primary concern for all sectors in our country. Therefore, we strongly believe that peace can come permanently to Sudan through education. In fact the current situation in Southern Sudan is not looking good with a threat from simple controllable diseases like cholera and meningitis just because people lack the basic information and health care services. Moreover, if there were services, delivery would be a tremendous challenge for the government. So i applaud the World Bank for supporting our project and for establishing the country development market place. Sudan's development needs to be approached both from the grass root levels as well as from the government and other bigger institutions levels.
Finally, i would like to congratulate my fellow winners and all the finalists for thinking about our world and initiating their projects to address the problems they have observed. We are all winners as they told us for we have learned a lot from each other. As i was going around the DM place to check on everyone's projects, i was envious of most projects and i would incorporate most of your ideas in my project if i have the capacity. Keep your dreams alive and that is a promise to the world that one day, we may see to it that those things that threaten our existence and coexistence are eradicated. I can see a bright prosperous future for all of you and our world all together.
Thank you
Your friend from Sudan
